Frequently asked questions

What is a vCard?+

A vCard (.vcf) is the standard format for contact details. Phones recognise it and offer to save a new contact with every field filled in.

How much information can I include?+

The more you add, the denser the code becomes. For a business card, name, phone, email, company and website is the sweet spot. Skip long addresses if you want an easily scanned small code.

Can I change my details later?+

The details are stored in the code, so a change means a new code. For details that change often, create a QR code that links to an online profile instead.

Will it work on iPhone and Android?+

Yes. Both read vCard codes with the built-in camera and offer a Create Contact button.

A business card that saves itself

Paper cards get lost and retyping details is slow. A vCard QR code lets someone scan your card once and your details land in their contacts, with no typing and no typos.

What to include

  • Essentials: full name, mobile number, email address, company.
  • Helpful: job title and website.
  • Optional: address. It makes the code denser, so leave it out for tiny print sizes.

Printing tips

  • Print the code at least 2 cm wide on a card, and keep a quiet border around it.
  • Use a dark code on a light background.
  • Choose a higher error correction level if the card will be handled a lot.
  • Always test the printed result with two different phones.

Beyond business cards

Add the code to conference badges, email signatures, speaker slides, store receipts and the back of a car for a delivery business. Pair it with a clear ADD CONTACT frame label so people know what happens when they scan.
