More than a word count
Writers, students and marketers use word counters for more than length. Check whether a post fits a platform limit, whether sentences are too long for web readers, and whether a keyword is used often enough without stuffing.
Reading ease in practice
Most web content works best at a Flesch reading ease of about 60 to 70, which is plain English that is easy for a broad audience. Shorter sentences and shorter words raise the score. Sentences over 25 words are flagged so you can split them.
Keyword density, sensibly
There is no magic percentage. Use the keyword table to spot unnatural repetition and to confirm your main topic appears in the text. Write for people first, as Google's guidance says. See our SEO checklist and blogging guide for more.
