How to take a good photo first
- Stand in front of a plain, light wall in even daylight, with no shadows on the face.
- Look straight at the camera with a neutral expression and both eyes open.
- Keep the camera at eye level and a little back so the head and shoulders fit.
- Remove glasses with glare, hats and anything the rules do not allow.
Sizing and cropping
Choose your size, then drag and zoom until the face sits inside the guide and the head is not too large or small. The tool outputs at 300 DPI, which is the standard for printing. Many online forms also set a maximum file size, so use the KB box to compress a JPG to fit.
Printing copies
The print sheet fills a 4 × 6 inch photo-lab size or A4 with as many copies as fit, with thin cut lines. Print at 100% scale (no "fit to page") and on photo paper for the best result.
Check the rules
Every country and application has its own requirements for size, head position, background and recency. This tool cannot know them for you, so read the official guidelines before submitting or paying for prints.
